  • Mandatory Reporter Obligations

Reports submitted through this tip line do not absolve individuals from any mandatory reporter duty they may have under Montana or federal law.

 

 

  • Privacy Policy
    SaferMontana is a tip line for students and other members of the public to anonymously and confidentially report information concerning threats or potential threats to student safety at the following schools: Stevensville High School, Florence Carlton High School, Big Sky High School, and Sentinel High School.

 

Reports submitted to a participating school which do not concern students of attending that school or safety threats regarding that school will be directed to the appropriate school when such school is identifiable, and referred to the police and Child Protective Services as appropriate.

 

Collection and Use of Confidential Information
When making a tip through SaferMontana, Reporters have the option to voluntarily provide confidential information – defined as information that uniquely identifies you such as your name, phone number or address.  Tip Line Technicians will ask this information to better serve you and better respond to the tip you make.  If a reporter submits confidential information, such information will be disclosed to Tip Line Responders, any referred agencies, and to the extent necessary to respond to a complaint.

 

By submitting such information, you expressly give SaferMontana, its Tip Line Technicians, and Tip Line Responders permission to send follow-up messages to your phone, mobile device or computer.  Tip Line Responders may follow up with you for a myriad of reasons, including to check on whether the issue has been resolved and to inquire on your health and safety.

 

Tip Line Responders are defined as law enforcement, first responders, Child Protective Services, and appropriate education provider contacts.

 

In the case of immediate danger or risk to safety, Tip Line Technicians may connect you to 9-1-1 or another emergency service provider who may require additional information to respond.

 

We may also use confidential Information for internal purposes such as auditing, reporting, data analysis, and research to improve the program.

 

Confidential information may also be disclosed when otherwise required by law or in response to a lawfully issued subpoena.

 

Anonymous Reports

Reporters also have the option to submit reports without disclosing confidential information.  However, only reports submitted online, or via the app, are completely anonymous.  Reports submitted via an email, text, or phone call, will capture the submitting email or phone number.  If the report is referred to the police, such captured information will be disclosed to the police.  Captured information will not be submitted to any other Tip Line Responders, unless required by law.

 

 

  • Your Consent and Changes in Privacy Policy
    By using SaferMontana, you agree to the practices outlined in this privacy policy. Use of SaferMontana constitutes your acceptance of the privacy policy and terms.  Privacy policy changes are expected from time to time, any changes to this privacy policy will be effective as they are added to the SaferMontana website.

 

  • Use of Non-Confidential Information

SaferMontana, intends to use non-confidential, aggregated or summary tip information for reports, research, and legislative lobbying aimed at creating initiatives which positively impact school safety and student mental health.

 

SaferMontana will not sell information to 3rd parties.

 

  • Referrals to Other Programs
    SaferMontana may refer tips to Child Protective Services, Montana Department of Public Health and Human services when appropriate or required by law.  When practicable, reporters will be informed of the referral and connected to such for their assistance. Voluntarily disclosed confidential information will be released to such programs.

 

  • Protecting Your Information
    SaferMontana shall take all reasonable precautions to protect confidential information from loss, theft, misuse, unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and loss.
